Welcome! I’m Rika Dehombreux, the founder of Glowing Roots.
Born in Belgium under the sign of Gemini, I was raised in a bilingual household — Dutch from my mother and French from my father. The presence of different languages at home, combined with yearly cultural travels across different continents with my mother, gave me a deep appreciation for multicultural spaces. Later in life, I met my American husband, which added English to the palette of my daily life.
I grew up in the countryside of Viane, near Geraardsbergen, surrounded by trees, fields, and the storytelling of village life. Fairy tale books, pencils, paint, and modeling clay were my constant companions — and in many ways, they still are.
My lifelong fascination with art, mythology, and philosophy led me to earn a Master’s degree in Art History & Archaeology from the Free University of Brussels in 2002. Years later, I followed my creative calling more directly, completing Diplomas in Drawing and Painting (2013) and Watercolors (2015) through the London Art College. I continue to study realistic art to refine my skills and deepen my understanding of form and color, while also allowing space for intuitive experimentation with different materials, media, and styles.
My work springs from intuition, mindfulness, and a sense of spiritual connection. I create paintings, jewelry, and magical objects, and I curate vintage treasures — all meant to spark wonder, healing, and joy. Each artwork begins in stillness and flows through me as a message from the Universe — only later do I explore the symbols and stories that reveal themselves. I admire artists such as Marc Chagall and Odilon Redon, because I feel that they too were working intuitively and receiving imagery from the divine.
Through Glowing Roots, I share intuitive art and soulful offerings that celebrate inner light, spiritual evolution, and staying lovingly grounded.

Bienvenue ! Je suis Rika Dehombreux, fondatrice de Glowing Roots.
Je suis née en Belgique sous le signe du Gémeaux, et j’ai grandi dans un foyer bilingue — le néerlandais de ma mère et le français de mon père. La présence de plusieurs langues à la maison, combinées avec des voyages culturels annuels sur différents continents avec ma mère, m’ont donné très tôt une profonde appréciation des environnements multiculturels. Plus tard, j’ai rencontré mon mari américain, ce qui a ajouté l’anglais à ma vie quotidienne.
J’ai grandi à la campagne, à Viane près de Grammont, entourée de champs, de forêts et d’une culture villageoise encore riche en traditions orales. Les contes de fées, les crayons de couleur, la peinture et la pâte à modeler étaient mes compagnons fidèles — et ils le sont toujours.
Ma fascination profonde pour l’art, la mythologie et la philosophie m’ont menée à obtenir un master en Histoire de l’Art et Archéologie à la Vrije Universiteit Brussel en 2002. Plusieurs années plus tard, j’ai repris des études artistiques et obtenu les diplômes de Dessin et Peinture en 2013, puis d’Aquarelle en 2015 au London Art College. Je continue à étudier l’art réaliste pour affiner mes compétences et approfondir ma compréhension des formes et des couleurs, tout en laissant de la place à l’expérimentation intuitive avec divers matériaux, médiums et styles.
Mon travail naît de l’intuition, de la pleine conscience et d’un sentiment de connexion spirituelle. Je crée des peintures, des bijoux et des objets magiques, et je sélectionne avec amour des pièces vintage uniques — tous conçus pour éveiller l’émerveillement, favoriser la guérison et apporter la joie. Chaque œuvre commence dans le silence et s’écoule à travers moi comme un message de l’Univers — ce n’est qu’ensuite que j’explore les symboles et les récits qui s’y dévoilent. J’admire les artistes comme Marc Chagall et Odilon Redon, car j’ai le sentiment qu’eux aussi travaillaient de manière intuitive et recevaient des visions inspirées du divin.
À travers Glowing Roots, je partage un art intuitif et des créations et trouvailles inspirées, qui célèbrent la lumière intérieure, soutiennent l’évolution spirituelle, tout en restant profondément enracinés.

Welkom! Ik ben Rika Dehombreux, de oprichtster van Glowing Roots.
Ik werd geboren in België onder het sterrenbeeld Tweelingen en groeide op in een tweetalig gezin — Nederlands via mijn moeder en Frans via mijn vader. De aanwezigheid van verschillende talen thuis, gecombineerd met jaarlijkse culturele reizen naar verschillende continenten met mijn moeder, gaf me al op jonge leeftijd een diepe waardering voor multiculturele omgevingen. Later in mijn leven ontmoette ik mijn Amerikaanse echtgenoot, wat het Engels toevoegde aan het palet van mijn dagelijks leven.
Ik groeide op op het platteland in Viane, nabij Geraardsbergen, omringd door velden, bossen en de toen nog levendige vertelcultuur van de dorpsbewoners. Sprookjesboeken, kleurpotloden, verf en boetseerklei waren mijn trouwe metgezellen — en dat zijn ze eigenlijk nog steeds.
Mijn fascinatie voor kunst, mythologie en filosofie leidde me tot het behalen van een masterdiploma in de Kunstwetenschappen en Archeologie aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2002. Jaren later ving ik opnieuw creatieve studies aan en behaalde de diploma's Tekenen en Schilderen in 2013 en Aquarel in 2015 aan de London Art College. Ik blijf realistische kunst bestuderen om mijn vaardigheden te verfijnen en mijn inzicht in vorm en kleur te verdiepen, terwijl ik ook ruimte laat voor intuïtief experimenteren met verschillende materialen, media en stijlen.
Mijn werk ontstaat vanuit intuïtie, mindfulness en een gevoel van spirituele verbinding. Ik maak schilderijen, juwelen en magische dingen, en ik selecteer liefdevol unieke vintage voorwerpen — allemaal bedoeld om verwondering, heling en vreugde te brengen. Elk kunstwerk begint in stilte en stroomt door mij heen als een boodschap van het Universum — pas nadien verken ik de symboliek en verhalen die zich daarin openbaren. Ik bewonder kunstenaars zoals Marc Chagall en Odilon Redon, omdat ik het gevoel heb dat ook zij intuïtief werkten en visionaire beelden ontvingen van het Hogere.
Via Glowing Roots deel ik intuïtieve kunst en bezielde creaties en vondsten die het innerlijke licht vieren, spirituele groei ondersteunen en tegelijk liefdevol gegrond blijven.
